Thailand has introduced a new green energy procurement option called the Utility Green Tariff (UGT).
This national utility program enables eligible customers to purchase both energy and associated renewable energy certificates (RECs) from utility-scale renewable energy projects. The tariff is incorporated into the customer's electricity bills, providing a streamlined way to support and utilize renewable energy sources.Powered by EGAT

UGT1 (User-unspecified Sources) UGT2 (User-specified Sources) Regulated by ERC

UGT provides RECs sourced from designated renewable power plants through the "Bundled REC" method, where RECs are integrated with physical electricity delivery and itemized on the same electricity bill. This unified transaction enhances accountability and fosters trust with stakeholders.

UGT offers two tailored options for consumers to access green energy procurement options. These options are crafted to meet diverse needs and preferences while actively supporting the shift to renewable energy sources. The UGT framework ensures compatibility with widely accepted reporting standards and guarantees transparent tracking for credible renewable energy usage claims.

UGT offers a diverse range of renewable energy sources, including solar, solar paired with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), wind, and hydropower. These power plants are strategically categorized to align with each UGT option. UGT RE sources come from both existing and new renewable energy power plants, ensuring a reliable and specially designated supply for REC allocation.

3 Key components of UGT Services

Renewable energy power plants are strategically categorized for both UGT1 and UGT2.

Arrangement Unit administers REC allocation via UGT Platform by virtually matching actual RE generation units with actual energy consumption units to determine the requisite volume of bundled RECs to be delivered to UGT subscribers.

UGT provides RECs sourced from designated renewable power plants through the "Bundled REC" method, where RECs are integrated with physical electricity delivery and itemized on the same electricity bill.
The Arrangement Unit manages REC allocation on the UGT Platform by matching power generation units with consumption units. Based on monthly data of actual green electricity generation and subscriber consumption, it determines and delivers the required RECs to UGT subscribers.
UGT Platform is officially listed by the I-Track Foundation, the global authority that sets I-REC(E) verification standards for tracking systems worldwide. This certification ensures our platform meets the highest standards for data integrity, security, and international interoperability. Core functions include:
Driving Thailand's green energy transition through UGT
